Remembrance

Well over 200 people attended the commemoration of the centenary of the end of WWI at the Cenotaph in Lees cemetery and Commonwealth War Grave site.  Many of the clergy from Churches together in Lees and District took part in the service with Rev'd Lyn giving the address.  There was some rain resulting in a sea of umbrellas, although the rain did stop in time for the 2 minutes silence.  Wreathes were laid by many of the uniformed organisations and others including a tribute from a local play group.

St John the Baptist was well represented within the congregation, with several clusters throughout the cemetery.  The hymns were 'O God our help in ages past', 'O Valiant hearts' - a new one to us, and 'The Lord's my Shepherd'. There was a band accompaniment and a parade following the commemoration.
