St Paul’s within the walls, the Anglican church
in Rome. The mosaic features the exalted Jesus, flanked by Archangels. The
vacant spot on the right of Jesus symbolises the space where Satan was cast
from heaven. Underneath the waters below Jesus feet, reading from the centre,
right to left, in Hebrew, are the words “In the beginning God made the world”;
from the centre, reading from left to right, in Greek, are the words, “In the
beginning was the word”.
